B.A. '98 - Sarah Forbes
Paramedic and College Instructor, Varsity Medical Coordinator, Laurentian University
Career History Since Graduation After I left York I decided to head back to school and become a paramedic. I worked as a paramedic for the City of Toronto for 15 years predominantly in the York University area and Rexdale. A job I absolutely loved to this day. A move to Sudbury has forced me in a new career path and I am currently working as the Primary Care Paramedic Program coordinator and as an instructor at a local college. I am also working at Laurentian University as the Varsity Medical Coordinator for student trainers and all varsity teams within our Athletic Department
Most Memorable York University Experience It's hard to pinpoint a specific memory as my years at York were filled with such amazing teammates, people and professors. I could list spending time with all my friends in the Tait Lounge, travelling with the Field Hockey team across the country, playing late night intramurals or just grabbing a bite and beverage at the Snail with friends
York University Anecdote or Highlight Being selected female athlete of the Year in 1998 was certainly a highlight for me.

Academically, my time spent with Greg Malszecki really opened my eyes to the world of academics and how society viewed women in sport, how we can change perceptions and misconceptions while educating the masses; an area I am still passionate about to this day.

Highlight(s) of Professional Career Being a Field Training Officer for students coming thru school to be a paramedic and having the opportunity to mentor and give them guidance over the past 9 years. Many amazing experiences at work but helping deliver a number of babies certainly stands out.
