Most Memorable York University Experience |
I have many but probably the my most memorable York University experience was in my fourth year of studies. In my fourth year, I was able to enrol in an Independent Study course with Dr. Roger Kelton and Dr. Frances Flint, where I had the opportunity to learn anatomy by performing human cadaver dissection. After having dissected cats in anatomy with Neil Smith, it was a rare opportunity to dissect a human cadaver. I remember that we had access to the cadavers at Humber College as part of their Mortician Program. It was a little unnerving to be alone (at times) in a room with a cadaver, despite that, it was a positive experience that I will always remember. It gave me a true appreciation of the human body. |
York University Anecdote or Highlight |
Being a member of the Athletic Therapy Certificate Program and playing varsity rugby.
I remember during my first year at York while playing varsity rugby, I sustained an injury. This led me to meeting the athletic therapy student who helped me recover from the injury and get back to playing rugby. That experience allowed me to discover the Athletic Therapy Certificate Program at York University. The following year, while continuing to play varsity rugby, I was accepted into the Athletic Therapy Certificate Program. In retrospect, this shaped my career path and as they say, the rest is history. |
Highlight(s) of Professional Career |
For the last 20 years my role as a Physiotherapist, Certified Athletic Therapist and Kinesiologist in Canada has enabled me to share my expertise in the field of athletic and manual physical therapy.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to start various private clinical practices and have extensive experience treating clients in the area of orthopaedics and sports rehabilitation since 1997.
Currently, I am excited to serve as an Assistant Lecturer in the School of Kinesiology as part of the Athletic Therapy Program at York University and have been also pursuing my Doctorate of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Andrews University in Michigan, USA.
