York University Anecdote or Highlight Ignoring the fire alarm…. Someone released a tear gas canister in the hall outside one of the Curtis Lecture Halls, the fire alarm sounded and I determined it was another false alarm and decided to remain in the classroom. Minutes later I emerged from the classroom – when I stepped out into the hallway it was completely engulfed with smoke, I staggered outside the building along with fellow classmates and we sat on the grass right next to the ventilation system and got a good dosage of the gas escaping from the building. We were completely trounced by the gas and had to be taken to the local hospital and remained there for several hours before I was released …..
