The induction dinner will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at The Royalton Hospitality Centre, 8201 Weston Rd, Woodbridge.
Always a highlight of the University year, this year’s Sport Hall of Fame Induction Dinner will include a celebration of 50 years of York football. Among this year’s inductees are former Head Football Coach, Frank Cosentino (who also served as chair and director of Physical Education & Athletics from 1976-1981) and perennial OUA all-star running back Jeff Johnson ‘00, who went on to a 14-year career in the CFL. Patricia Murray, York’s longest serving athletic director (1995-2008), former Canadian Olympic Committee vice-president and long-time York synchro swim coach (including 3 OWIAA titles), will also be honoured. Also to be inducted are Greg Rolston ’89, a high-scoring forward who led York’s hockey team to three provincial and two national championships; Peter Bedard ’93, a top tennis player who, at the provincial championships, won three individual and three team titles; and Melanie Roach ’03, a member of the women’s hockey team who led the team in scoring and was twice named an all-Canadian and five-times an OUA all-star.
