BSc, MS and his PhD in Kinesiology and Health Science
Date:
November 18th, 2016

On Nov 18 2016, Dr. Vladimir Ljubicic was the Guest Lecturer in KINE 4010 (Exercise Physiology) in commemoration of the School of Kinesiology and Health Science’s 50th Anniversary.  Dr. Ljubicic spoke passionately and articulately about his undergraduate education, as well as his time as an MSc and PhD student within the School.  He regaled the audience with an account of his athletic prowess as an elite volleyball player, as well as his relationships with his teammates, and the things that he learned as student-athlete.  He also spoke hiughly of his graduate student colleagues, and what he learned from them.  Dr. Ljubicic then described his career path toward where he is right now, as Assistant Professor and Canada Research Chair in the Department of Kinesiology at McMaster University.  He also described his current research focus, on the plasticity of the neuromuscular junction, and how it is affected by exercise and disease.  Dr. Ljubicic then finalized his talk with some advice for the undergraduate audience.   At the end of the lecture he was surrounded by students who wanted to know more.  That certainly is an indicator of a successful interaction between students at the teacher!
